About

Hello! I am a music writer, player (of instruments and records), producer, and remixer. I also design and program the odd website. I share my home in Glasgow, Scotland with my beautiful wife Wendy and our two cats Millie & Chip.
I am currently available for hire as a producer and remixer of any fantastic music out there, of which it is my mission to find. My inspiration comes from Eno, Stevie Wonder, XTC, YMO, 2-Tone, Detroit Techno, New Wave, Disco and other brilliant things. Check out some of the things I’ve worked on recently.
A large chunk of my life in music was spent with my first band bis, which began in 1994 when I was 15. We released a couple of singles on the Chemikal Underground label which led to us appearing on Top Of The Pops with the tune ‘Kandy Pop’. From 1996-2000 we released a plethora of singles, EPs and albums that sent us touring world-wide. Although success was a struggle, Japan went mental for bis in 1997. America and Australia quite liked us too. We eventually gave up in 2003 with our heads high, before the abortive re-attempt that was Data Panik in 2005. We were great, but we split up after a year due to musical indifference.
In 2003 I joined the 18-legged ska monster that is The Amphetameanies on guitar duties to replace the fame bound Alex (Kapranos) Huntly. I produced the 2006 album “Now That’s What I Call The Amphetameanies”, which has gained huge popularity in several places we can’t pronounce or remember being in due to over zealous sampling of the local refreshments.
Recently I’ve produced lots of electronic stuff as Dirty Hospital (with Steven) which we release on our own label Rottenrow, and on other great labels. I’ve also co-produced a load of remixes with Linus Loves including chart topping singles by Justin Timberlake, Scissor Sisters and Mika.
It would take forever to fill in all the blanks of the last 10 or so years. Will that do? Thanks for your attention.
